SEAN LANDERS

Sean Landers learned how to paint from his Mother and Grandmother, and went on to study Sculpture at Philadelphia College. In his early work, he created an alter ego, and wrote a piece in screenplay format, to take the viewer into the world of a struggling artist. He considers his early written pieces to be drawings, as his text is the image. He uses a large range of media, from oil paints, to sculpture and video. Landers likes to 're-examine the art making practice'.

I love Landers use of text within his work. He finds a creative way to present his words without being really obvious. His Football Duck piece, he uses suitable colour for his text, so it blends into the image, making the audience have to come in close with his work. Landers also creates graphic pieces of text which I think look amazing, because they're simple and unique. I definitely think Landers will inspire me to use text within my work, not just because I like how it looks visually, but I think it will give me a good opportunity to explore giving my work context.
