Exhibition Research:
-I had already shown the site research for the Shaun Project Space to be our venue for the exhibition. We managed to book these dates from March 13th 2020 to March 17th 2020. We decided this was the best place for us as the venue is large enough for us to both have a big collection of work in there. Shannon and I discussed where we would place our work and roughly guessed how we would have things. As we were very set on having this space, and with Matthew Hall also working with us, we needed to have it very early on in the year. This is a beautiful space, as it has 3 big white walls and is very generous in size. I am really pleased that we got the exhibition space, because once we got it all ready it looked amazing, like a professional exhibition space. I managed to grab a couple of photos of the space before we started preparing the walls for the art, but since it was really quick from getting in and putting things up I didn't manage to take many. These photos show how excellent the space is because of it's space. There is so much opportunity of work to go on these walls that this is one of the best spaces and we managed to book it in time before having to work remotely. We had to create the space quite quickly because we only had one evening to correct the walls and to clean the floor. Shannon documented us putting the space together, so I have added a few photos of us painting the walls etc. I am also going to show the work that went into putting the exhibition together, such as prepping the shelves that I had made with Technician Graham, and putting them onto the wall. This was a really fun experience because we had to take full control of prepping everything. First year we were a big team working together, given instructions to place work and paint everything etc. but this was completely our decision.
These images below are the shelves I made for the glass pieces with Graham. The image on the left is in the workshop cutting the shelves to size and the images to the right are testing holes. We were unsure what the wall was made from, so Graham sent me with a test shelf and a drill to try and put a shelf up before we plastered and painted the wall.
