Francis Bacon:
-Bacon's portraits have inspired me also throughout my project. This is because his use of colour and texture. I really like his unusual drawings of faces, but it's something I haven't took inspiration from. Before, I was creating pieces that had pops of colours on certain areas, but with how Bacon has used colour across the whole face this is something I have took inspiration from. I really like the composition on Bacon's portraits, I think it's really strong to have the image in the center of the page. What else is similar between Bacon and my work is that it is mainly focused on the head, which I was unaware about until researching him. Bacon has a large portfolio of work, but I was mostly inspired by his portraits because of the nature of my project. Something I haven't explored with, which I would like to do, is to play with texture. Bacon's portraits have a lot of paint texture to them, that could be successful to my paintings. What else I admire about Bacon is how he creates his work in studies. Lots of his paintings are made in threes and are of the same face but in different angles. I think this is something I should consider looking into because I am constantly drawing different faces in similar angles. I think it would be more interesting if I had a collection of pieces that were the same face but just shown differently. It would also mean the text in the background could all link together instead of being separate pieces. Since I have worked on different materials too I think this would give my work an interesting look too.
